Logistics Supervisor or Manager

Location: Waunakee, WI

The Logistics Supervisor or Manager is responsible for the shipment, receipt, and material handling of outgoing and incoming materials, parts, or products, and for documentation and continuous improvement for all shipping and receiving processes, including proactively suggesting and implementing improvements to distribution procedures, improving timeliness and reducing costs. This position is also responsible for providing the proactive direction, leadership and management of all shipping and receiving personnel and for reporting out and interacting with management as required.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible for proactive leadership, guidance, training, motivation, delegation of tasks, discipline, and evaluation of the Shipping and Receiving, and Materials staff.  Distribute workload. Manage day-to-day workflow within each team including identification of assignments and responsibility, establishing work deadlines, and coordinating completion of activities.

· Supervise and interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication to coordinate the activities of employees engaged in incoming, outgoing and storage of shipments, products, and materials.

· Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.

· Make recommendations and decisions regarding shipping, receiving, and material handling activities, with focus on Quick Response Manufacturing (QRM).

· Audit carrier billing statements for accuracy.

· Responsible for the oversight and preparation of outgoing shipments, receipt of incoming shipments, and all related shipping and receiving duties.

· Schedule or monitor domestic or international air or surface pickup, delivery, or distribution of products or materials as needed.

· Participate in interviewing, selecting, and training personnel, as well as the mid and year end employee review processes.

· Plan, develop, and/or ensure safety programs and requirements are understood and adhered to.

· Confer with and foster positive working relationships with other RenewAire departments and teams to effectively coordinate shipping, receiving, and material handling activities.

· Responsible for freight packaging and palletizing methods and documentation, aiming to reduce costs and offer better customer service.

· Assist in preparing and managing department budget.

· Assess and resolve shipping, receiving, material handling/inventory issues or discrepancies and collaborate with team mates to improve upon process breakdowns.

· Assess and improve upon freight and 3PL alternatives and recommend changes that may be beneficial.

· Coordinate and schedule Sales and Marketing show needs, shipments and returns.

· Assess and Process Freight/Damage Claims.

· Advise/assist with the logistics associated with any unusual, complex, and/or custom unit configurations.

· Advise/assist with the logistics associated with any unusual or challenging RMAs – Returns Processing.

· Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of shipping experience or equivalent.

· 5+ years of Supervisor/Management experience.

· Previous experience with small parcel, LTL, and TL shipping and receiving.

· Previous experience with international inbound and outbound logistics.

· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Proficient with shipping and receiving software packages and ERP software.

· Valid driver’s license and willing to drive company vehicles including pickup truck and straight truck.

· Fork Lift certification required.
