Machine Operator - Sheet Metal 1st shift

Location: Waunakee, WI

As the Machine Operator – Fabrication, you will be part of a small team responsible for participating in and leading fabrication of sheet metal parts using CNC fabrication equipment (Salvagnini) according to current drawings and specifications. In this role, you will follow all procedures relating to materials, quality, equipment operation, and testing, as well as all fabrication department and company procedures.

 

Job Duties Include but are not limited to the following

    • Cross train on multiple machines and/ or fabrication equipment
    • Run CNC fabrication equipment including Salvagnini punch laser, Salvagnini panel bender, and Salvagnini press brake. Troubleshoot equipment when needed. Perform small CNC programs adjustments
    • Act as an expert and a go-to individual in the fabrication technicians’ team
    • Perform material handling of raw metal sheets and of finished product with attention to detail
    • Collaborate with, support and suggest opportunities to engineers and programmer to reduce cycle time, material waste and increase quality in the fabrication department
    • Setup equipment, change tooling and perform small preventive maintenance
    • Complete all necessary forms including but not limited to: non-conforming, part shortage, documentation, and engineering changes
    • Read and interpret blueprints and follow fabrication department instructions. Adhere to all Fabrication Team and RenewAire policies such as kitting, addressing clocking errors, etc.
    • Visually inspect all parts to ensure that quality standards are being upheld

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Metal Fabrication educational classes a plus
  • Must have previously operated CNC equipment for a minimum of 1 year: laser punch, panel bender and/or press brake equipment, preferably Salvagnini equipment
  • 1+ years of relevant manufacturing experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and to read measurements in inches and feet
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and other manufacturing instructions

The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 30 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.  Specific vision required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a production environment with mechanical and electrical assembly operations, continuous manufacturing equipment and vehicles. The employee is regularly exposed to moving sub-assembly parts; fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
